The CRP-ELISA is designed to measure C-reactive protein in rodent and other animal models of disease and is applicable to multiple species. C-reactive protein (CRP) is an acute-phase protein produced in the liver following tissue damage caused by inflammation, infection, or trauma. Serum CRP levels quickly increase following acute tissue damage and fall rapidly after removal of the stimulating source, making the measurement of CRP an excellent biomarker of inflammatory conditions that would otherwise be difficult to detect and monitor. |
